The Verdict

Sol 7 is off the sky lobby at the Thompson Hotel in Houston. Great city views, nice service, so-so pancakes.

They looked good on the plate, but a bit dense and doughy. The specialty pancake — blueberry — lacked many blueberries in the batter, and those that were there had raw batter around them. Not a shining star. Needed a fair amount of syrup to wade through these.

But the view was nice.

The Details

  • Where: seventh floor of the Thompson Houston, off the sky lobby
  • What we ordered: the standard stack and the blueberry specialty
  • The good: the room, the skyline views, and genuinely nice service
  • The problem: dense, doughy texture, and underbaked batter around the blueberries
  • Syrup required: more than it should have been
